For use in construction or for the manufacture of structures operating under normal conditions, structural steels of ordinary quality are used, the customer can change the material of manufacture to better steels, this should be indicated in the supplement to the order contract. Rectangular tubes are made from round welded or seamless tubes, shaped and sized by rollers on the mill, the billet can be hot or cold. Physical characteristics comply with the international standard EN 10219:2006. With the help of these data, it is possible to more accurately calculate the bearing parameters of the structure.

For a pipe 100 × 80 × 4 mm, the parameters are: A (cross-sectional area) - 13.35 cm2; Au (outer surface area) - 0.346 cm2; Wx (section modulus along the X axis) - 37.89 cm3; Wpx (plastic moment of resistance along the X axis) - 45.62 cm3; Wpu (plastic moment of resistance along the Y axis) - 39.15 cm3; Wv (section modulus during torsion along the Y axis) - 39.15 cm3; Iv (moment of inertia of rotation along the Y axis) - 134.17 cm4. All calculations are made taking into account that the steel density is 7.85 kg/dm3. More accurate strength values can only be calculated by conducting laboratory tests on selected samples from each lot. When calculating, it is understood that the outer radius is equal to: r1=2.0 × t, when t ≤ 6.0 mm; r1=2.5 × t when 6.0 < t ≤ 10.0 mm; r1=3.0 × t when t > 10.0 mm. t is the pipe wall thickness. r1 is the radius of the outer rounding.
